Celebrating their 10th year of exclusive on ground SXSW coverage, Australian publication the AU review has revealed the line-up for their first ever official night showcase at the iconic Austin event.
Partnering with their sister publication Hello Asia!, the event will feature three Australian acts. two acts from Japan and one from Korea. It’s all happening at Australia House (Lucille at 77 Rainey St) on Thursday 14th March from 8pm.
The event will mark the end of the AU’s 10th Birthday celebrations, which kicked off as part of SCOUTED in Adelaide last July, before hosting events as part of both WAM Festival in Perth and BIGSOUND in Brisbane. And just like these past events, the party at SXSW will showcase some of the hottest up-and-coming acts; one’s not to be missed.
Rising indie pop star San Mei, who also played the AU review’s BIGSOUND 10th Birthday party last year, will be kicking things off, ahead of South Korean skate-punk trio Drinking Boys & Girls Choir, Aussie-via-London rising stars Geowulf, alternative Japanese outfit STEREOGIRL, Aussie art-pop outfit I Know Leopard and closing things out at 1am with Tokyo indie-rock quartet DYGL.
The showcase is one of three official night music showcases to be held at the venue, with Laneway Festival’s official showcase the night before, and Secret Sounds’s the following evening. More details about all the events at Australia House, which is hosted by G’Day USA, can be found at the Sounds Australia website.
The event marks the first time an Australian media outlet has put on an official showcase at Australia House, as well as the first time artists from the greater Asian region have been invited to perform at Australia House.
