Heath Media are excited to confirm the return of the In The Round Sessions at Leadbelly Newtown for a special event on Valentine’s Day; while the Courtyard Sessions at the Seymour Centre start a 10 week season tonight.
In The Round is inspired by the sessions at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, where four singer/songwriters get together to play their own songs, each others, some covers – and tell a few stories along the way. Expect once-in-a-lifetime collaborations and an incredible evening of music.
The fifth event in the series, which runs on the second Wednesday of every month, will take place on Wednesday, February 14th. This Valentine’s Day event is bring curated by Sam Buckingham and will feature Timothy James Bowen, John Vella and Hannah Acfield.
We’re also excited to reveal the curators for three more In The Round events:
In The Round #006: March 14th curated by Lozz Benson
In The Round #007: April 11th curated by Marissa Winters (Winters End)
In The Round #008: May 9th curated by Hannah Robinson
Full lineups will be revealed closer to each respective date. Keep your eye on the Leadbelly Facebook page for more details.
And tonight, the Courtyard Sessions returns to Sydney’s Seymour Centre, with Heath Media’s Larry Heath returning to curate for the third consecutive year, kicking things off with Timothy James Bowen on Friday, January 19th and Victorian artist Anna Smyrk on Friday, January 26th, supported by Ethan Conway. The event is totally free, running Fridays between 6 and 9pm, with food and drink available on site. The event runs until March 23rd.
More details about the ten week program, which is also an official part of the Mardi Gras celebrations, can be found at: https://www.seymourcentre.
Both the In The Round and Courtyard Sessions represent Heath Media’s focus on supporting local artists through live events – with both 2018 programs strong in female talent. All currently scheduled In The Round sessions are being programmed by local female artists, and non-male talent make up some 70% of the Courtyard Sessions program announced so far.
With Heath Media’s signature publication The AU Review turning 10 this year, look out for some more major live music announcements later in the year and find out how we’ll be celebrating this milestone around the country.
Heath Media are also excited to confirm that the National Live Music Awards and the Australian Music Week Film Festival are both set to return at the end of 2018. More details will be revealed later in the year.
